The Easiest, Crunchiest Salmon You’ll Ever Make—Thank You, Everything Bagel Blend
The everything bagel blend is the unsung hero of the pantry— always ready to swoop in with bold texture and savoury punch, whether it's rescuing plain eggs or reviving a lifeless salad. But when it meets salmon, it turns a simple weeknight dinner into the kind of meal you’ll crave on repeat.
Everything bagel isn’t just a sprinkle to rescue dinner here—it’s the main event! Pressed onto the surface of the fish before cooking, the seasoning forms a crisp, flavour-packed crust that locks in moisture and delivers rich, tender bites every time.
Best of all, prep takes less than five minutes. Pair it with a quick side—like spring asparagus, green beans, rice, or couscous—and you’ve got a no-fuss dinner that tastes far more impressive than the effort it takes.
The only real question is: which everything bagel blend will you choose?
We love using our Spicy Everything Bagel Blend for its subtle heat from gochugaru and chili, but the Everything Bagel Blend with Fried Onion version is just as brilliant.
This dish might not seem like it needs a recipe—it’s that simple—but it’s one of those smart shortcuts that’s too good not to share.
Flavour profile: Nutty, crunchy, allium-forward goodness. Our spicy blend adds a satisfying heat from chili peppers and gochugaru, but all versions bring their own magic.
Ingredients (per serving)
- 1 skin-on salmon fillet (approx. 6–8 oz)
- 1½ tbsp Everything Bagel Seasoning (Spicy or Fried Onion recommended)
- Neutral oil (like avocado or grapeseed)
- Salt
- Lemon wedge, for serving
Instructions (Air Fryer Method)
-
Prepare the seasoning:
Pour the everything bagel blend onto a small plate—just big enough to dredge the fillet comfortably. -
Season the salmon:
Salt all sides of the salmon. While the everything bagel blend does contain salt, this extra sprinkle is essential—it helps the salmon stay juicy and brings out its full flavour. -
Coat the fillet:
Keeping the skin side bare, press the other three sides of the fillet into the seasoning until well coated. (Tip: Think of it like a flavour crust—leave the skin unseasoned so it crisps properly during cooking.) -
Air fry:
Lightly oil your air fryer basket or tray. Place the fillet skin-side down and cook at 400°F for 12–14 minutes, depending on desired doneness. -
Serve:
Remove from the air fryer, finish with a squeeze of lemon, and serve with your favourite side.
Stovetop Option (No Air Fryer? No Problem!)
- Heat 2 tablespoons of neutral oil in a skillet over medium heat.
- Place the salmon skin-side down and sear for 4–5 minutes, until the skin crisps and naturally releases from the pan.
- Reduce heat to medium-low, flip the fillet, and cook the seasoned side for another 2–3 minutes. Keep a close eye to prevent the crust from burning—adjust heat as needed and lift the fish gently to check.
- Transfer to a plate and serve with a lemon wedge.
